Launches MEC Investment Networking Programme
Trade and
Investment Limpopo (TIL) will, starting this week, host Honourable
Pitsi Moloto, MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism
in a series of cross sector and multi district roadshows. The
roadshows are aimed at primarily introducing the MEC to various
key captains of industry and communities. Invited stakeholders
include organised business structures in the agriculture, tourism
and mining sectors, tourism associations as well as provincial
business chambers.
The MEC’s Investor Network and information exchange sessions
will further flag each district’s unique selling propositions
and weaknesses, and in the process assist in determining the nature
and detail of interventionist programmes to unlock investment
bottlenecks and fast track Local Economic Development (LED). This
will be done through interrogation of the various economic nodes
per district, and a determination of how each node performs in
the overall provincial trade and investment value chain.
The Roadshows are tentatively scheduled as follows:
- 23 September:
Mopani District, Phalaborwa
- 6 October
Lephalale
- 20 October
Bela Bela
- 5 &
6 November Hoedspruit
The MEC will, during the roadshows, also launch the Limpopo 1st
Brand Campaign - a buy-local campaign aimed at encouraging prioritisation
of Limpopo produced goods and services in procurement decisions.
Says TIL Acting CEO, Julius Mapatha, “Limpopo’s agricultural
produce, Limpopo diamonds, road-networks, platinum and coal, tourism
offerings and goods contribute greatly to the South African, regional
and intercontinental economies. I foresee and call for a day,
soon, when all of our business ventures and output will embrace
a rallying view: Limpopo First – in being proudly Limpopo
in our business decisions.”
